Sunshine Minting Inc. (SMI) produces many high quality .999 Gold and Silver Bars, Rounds and Coins. They are one of the top US manufacturers producing hundreds of thousands of ounces of gold and silver bullion investment bars, coins and rounds annually.
Their customers are primarily governments, financial institutions, corporations, major marketing companies and private groups which outsource the minting and production of their investment coins to Sunshine Minting’s facilities.
In addition to private label minting and custom bullion coins, Sunshine offers their own brand of investment grade Gold and Silver Bullion Coins, Rounds and Bars in sizes ranging from 1 gram sizes to 100 ounce bars. Sunshine produces high quality .999 pure Gold and Silver and their products are easily traded among precious metal investors.
Sunshine Minting Gold Rounds are a popular choice for gold bullion investors. Gold Rounds typically come in 1oz .999 coins and are very easy to transport and store. The 1 oz gold round is often a better choice than gold bars because they can be stacked in 20 round tubes and stored safely.
Sunshine Minting is a reputable well known brand and it should be very easy to buy, sell or trade their gold rounds.
Gold Krugerrands are probably the most famous and well known gold coin, both in the USA and internationally.
South African Gold Krugerrand were first minted in 1967 to market Gold mined in South Africa. Since then they have become the default gold bullion coin for precious metal investors, primarily because they trade very close to the spot price to gold.
Gold Krugerrands usually can be purchased with little to no premium because of their mintage – they are not collectors coins, then are bullion coins. In the 1980 Krugerrands became so popular that they accounted for 90% of the gold coin market. Collector or numismatic coins get their value from being rare, so if you are looking for something rare, a Krugerrand is not for you.
For bullion investors the Gold Krugerrand is a great value because you can get more Gold for your money. They will almost always be in mint condition, because gold coins are usually stored with extreme care due to their high value.
South Africa Gold Krugerrands are available in 1/10 ounce, 1/4 ounce, 1/2 ounce and 1 ounce coin form only, there are no bars. One interesting thing to note is that a 1 oz Gold Krugerrand is not a .999 fine gold coin, but a 1 oz Gold Krugerrand does contain 1 oz of .999 gold. The actual weight is just slightly over 1 oz due to the alloy mix (8.33% copper) which gives the Krugerrand a more orange appearance than silver-alloyed gold coins. Copper alloy coins are harder and more durable, so they can resist scratches and dents (another reason why they have little collector value, they are more durable than pure gold coins).
